Former GMTV presenter Caroline Feraday talks Cheryl Cole’s wardrobe and wearing UGGs under the newsdesk!

posted May 19th 2010 at 4:57pm by Nikki Beukes

1. Since no one can see you on radio, would you stick to practical and comfy UGGs or keep the glamour with a fab pair of heels?
when I’m on the radio, I wear what’s comfortable. I’ll let you into a secret - you know the joke about newsreaders being naked from the waist down…well, last winter when it was bitter cold, I was presenting for BBC1 and was wearing UGGs with my suit, hidden under the desk!

2. When working for GMTV, did you get to choose your outfits and keep any of them?
I do get to keep some lovely pieces these days - but when I was out in LA I was only in shot from the waist up so needed a lot of tops and wasn’t savvy enough to be getting stuff for free, alas!

3. What fabulous footwear trend will you be wearing this Spring/Summer 2010?
I’m loving low heels this season, but with the summer in mind I’m lusting over wedges….a must have for the beach bar!

4. Which celebs shoe wardrobe would you most like to borrow?
Cheryl Cole. In fact, I’d like her entire wardrobe, her hair, in fact, the lot. I have total hero worship of her look.

Grazia inside scoop…Who wants to steal Gwyneth Paltrow’s shoe collection and thinks Catherine Zeta Jones needs a make-over…

posted May 19th 2010 at 2:43pm by Nikki Beukes

Sophie Ferguson Jones is the Shopping Editor at style bible Grazia, this lucky lady gets paid to shop! Being a knowledgeable fashionista is hard work and she certainly knows a hot trend when she sees it…

Shudoo.co.uk caught up with Sophie on what’s hot and what’s not this season >

1. What three footwear trends should every girl have in their wardrobe this season?

- Mandals! Yes believe it or not thick, flat manish sandals were all over the catwalks for the new season. Following on from the androgynous brogue of last season, tan, brown and black work best.

- Clogs, Chloe are my top picks followed closely by Swedish HASBEENS they will work with most things, from a floaty day dress to chino, a perfect shoe for day.

- Thick strap platforms seen at Fendi, Burberry and Givenchy. I love the socks and sandals trend. The thick straps downplay the pimped out platforms which will work for day and night. A neutral shoe is a must-have for the season, cream and nude colour will elongate legs.

2. What is the most wearable trend this season and what key items will you need to achieve it? LOOK-AT-ME-PRINTS - futuristic, tropical or even just plain mental prints are one item wonders, its all you need to make this look work. A brightly coloured print dress will steal the show, play up with bright block coloured accessories for night or pair with black for day.

3. Which celeb do you think is most in need of a fashion make over? Catherine Zeta-Jones, I would love for her to go all Grace Kelly and dress for her age, rather than trying to keep up with Victoria Beckham!

4. Which star’s shoe style do you envy? Gwyneth Palthrow has the best shoes! All killer heels.

Holly Willoughby and Fearne Cotton could be collaborating on a future shoe line…

posted July 20th 2009 at 1:32pm by Nikki Beukes

ITV Queen Holly Willoughby gives us an insight into her style, being a new mum and top fashion tips…

1.    If you could only wear one pair of shoes for the rest of your life, what would they be?
Holly loves her Louboutins but couldn’t wear them all the time. A trusty pair of Uggs would be her footwear choice, as you can wear them in the summer and they keep your feet cool as well as cosy in the winter.

Shudoo News says: Perfect choice for running after a little one!

2.    What is your must-have accessory for this season?
Miss Willoughby doesn’t seem to go anywhere without her carry cot for little baby Harry these days, certainly a new take on designer arm candy. Her must-have accessory would be a pair of stylish wedges, commenting that they flatter your legs and can be worn with skinny jeans or a cute summer dress.

Shudoo News says: Definitely a staple item of footwear for everyone’s wardrobe this season!

3.    What influenced your new range at very.co.uk?

Holly loves 50s glamour and is inspired by icons such as Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn, who were certainly the biggest style icons of their time as well as today.  She loves to look glam but thinks that pal Fearne Cotton can pull of casual-chic better than her.

Shudoo News says: We do love Fearne’s skinny jeans, graphic tee and converse day time look!

4.    Would you ever collaborate on a clothing range with Fearne Cotton?
Holly thinks that their style is too different to create a range together. There could be a possible joint shoe range in the pipe line… both ladies share the same shoe size and are always swapping footwear!

Shudoo News says:  We’d love to see a shoe collection from these stylish ladies!

5.    How many pairs of shoes do you own?

Holly admits she has “quite a lot of shoes, “more than 50, but less than 100.” She has a shoe-cabinet with a photo of each shoe on the box.

Shudoo News says: We love this idea; you know what’s in each shoe box without having to open them!

Check back soon for more great celeb interviews…

Fearne Cotton reveals where she gets her style inspiration from…

posted July 10th 2009 at 4:41pm by Nikki Beukes

If you’re anything like us then you’ll love Fearne Cotton and her unique sense of style, so when we had to the opportunity to ask her some questions about her love for fashion and new range with Very.co.uk, we jumped at it!

Here’s a roundup of the best bits…

1.    Where do you get your style inspiration from? Fearne gets inspiration for her fab outfits from Debbie Harry i.e. ‘Blondie’ (back in the day) as well as her mum’s 70s wardrobe and her style icon Chloe Sevigny.

2.    If you could only wear one pair of shoes ever again, what would they be? It would be a trusty pair of Converse trainers for Fearne, she loves customizing her Cons with different coloured laces and by drawing on them.

3.    How would you describe your personal style? The 27-year-old describes her personal style ‘Scruffy Chic’ and admits she can’t pull-off glamour like chum Holly Willoughby, who she describes as a bit of a Jessica Rabbit.

4.    What three items would you take to a desert island with you? Flips Flops, a bikini (to get a nice tan) and a skirt from her very.co.uk range.

5.    Do you get to keep any of your outfits that you wear on TV? Fearne sadly admits that if she borrows an expensive Balenciaga dress for the Oscars then she has to return it, complete with champagne stains!

6.    What will you be wearing on your feet this summer? Admits she will be rocking Converse all summer long, with a twist…adding an ankle sock. As well as the seasons must-have gladiators: “A good gladiator sandal is a must for the summer” as well as ballet pumps and strappy ankle wedges.

7.    How many pairs of shoes do you own? Fearne reveals she couldn’t possibly know the amount, “loads!” She has several shoe cupboards and keeps her posh shoes in their boxes.

What a fab insight into Fearne’s love for fashion, especially Converse - a staple in any wanna-be-fashionistas wardrobe! There’s nothing left for it, grab yourself a pair >

Lara Croft model Lucy Clarkson talks designer shoes, essential travel footwear and heels that boost your confidence

posted April 28th 2009 at 11:59am by Nikki Beukes

Shudoo chats to Lara Croft model Lucy Clarkson about the most expensive pair of shoes she has ever bought and must-have travel footwear, plus much more.

Lucy modeled for the Tomb Raider video games as Lara Croft and is also the face of Pearldrops and more recently starred in a BBC3 series, ‘My Life as an Animal,’ where she sent 4 days as a Dog, random but hilarious!

1. Being the model for Lara Croft must be really exciting – How would you say your personal style is similar to that of the Lara Croft character?

Well,  as much as I’d like to dress like Lara in my everyday life it can prove tough seeing as Lara’s outfit consists of Latex, very skimpy shorts ,a holster and a gun! But seriously speaking I love to get dressed up in something sexy and I loved the boots I wore as Lara.

2. Having modeled for Vivienne Westwood and Chanel you must get to wear some gorgeous clothes – Is there a key item you love this season?

I love this seasons coral coloured Maxi dresses from Matthew Williamson which I spied on the catwalk of London Fashion Week this year.

3. You’ve commented that the cash and the travel are the best aspects of your modeling career – what is the most expensive pair of shoes you have ever bought and what were they?

Being 6ft tall means that I struggle finding shoes to fit which is a common model problem. My favourite  shoes are Gucci as they do beautiful kitten heels that seem to fit me really well. The most expensive shoes I have ever bought were some electric blue Christian Louboutin heels for about £600.

4. As you’re always jetting off to different countries, are there certain shoes that you couldn’t travel without?

My special black Prada ballet pumps are indispensible for all sorts of travel. They’re also easy to slip on and off when flying.

5. You have been voted one the sexiest women alive – we know that a good pair of heels helps women feel sexy, do you have a fave pair for this? What tips would you give to women to help them feel more confident and sexy?

My favourite sexy shoes are a pair of light snakeskin print  heels with a chunky heel and I can wear them with a  dress or just with jeans and they still look fabulous. My top tips to feeling confident and sexy would be to always have French manicured toenails especially when wearing heels with open toes. Make sure that you have a good fitting bra so that you have a good posture which automatically makes you look confident, and finally when out on the tiles always carry a good clear lip gloss  in your handbag so that your lips always look fabulous.

Who wants to swap shoes with Victoria Beckham?

posted March 16th 2009 at 3:11pm by Nikki Beukes

Shudoo chats to Charlotte Dutton about flitting between the catwalks and the slopes…

Charlotte is a professional snowboarder, representing Britain for five seasons and competing in three World Cup Tours, but that’s not her only talent, she is also catwalk model and has her own fashion range, talk about dedicated!

Charlotte has been the face of Diesel and Samsung as well as modeling for Jean Paul Gaultier, Dolce and Gabbana and Prada, to name but a few. The lucky lady has also been photographed by renowned photographers David Bailey and Rankin!

As if that wasn’t enough, she has recently turned her hand to designing. She designed a sellout range for Topshop called ‘MotoSNO’, and now has her own range ‘Misticon’ - this girl is certainly a jack of all trades…

1. If you could swap shoes with any celebrity who would it be and why?

Posh Spice – she always has an amazing mix of both classic and timeless shoes, and crazy ones! And I love my killer heels!

2. What is the most you have ever spent on a pair of shoes and what were they?

£700 on a pair of Miu Miu boots. They were such a worthwhile investment though so it’s a justified buy!

3. Which pair of shoes could you not live without?

It would have to be my sparkly Gina stilettos as they make every dress look fab.

4. What was the inspiration behind you new fashion label Misticon?

It was to make practical clothing that girls would find easy to wear and would show off their personality. My ranges are always mix and match so that each season you can have a capsule collection that is timeless, so you never have those dreaded ‘what am I going to wear?’ days.

5. What essential items would you pack in your suitcase when flitting between the catwalk and the slopes?

I would take a mix and match collection from my Misticon range because it’s really versatile. It was actually originally designed because I was so sick of lugging 2 suitcases around with me – with Misticon I can wear the clothes during the day for a casual look, and then I can dress them up with a blazer and some heels for a casting or a night out

Louise Roe - TV host, magazine writer, stylist and model chats to Shudoo

posted January 23rd 2009 at 10:06am by Nikki Beukes

Shudoo talks to 26-year-old Louise Roe, TV host, magazine writer, stylist and model; she certainly has all the most enviable feathers in her cap.

Louise is the new face of American Vogue TV and is listed on Style.com’s ‘Top 10 Most Stylish People,’ so Shudoo just had to chat to her. She hosts Vogue’s hugely popular online channel, which features a mix of red carpet interviews and studio broadcasts.

She also has a weekly ‘What’s Hot and What’s Not’ segment on GMTV and will be reporting on the trends and gossip from New York fashion week for them, could we be any more jealous…

1. Being a model you must get to wear some fab designers, if you could only wear one designer for the rest of your life who would you choose?
In a dream world, I’d float around in Giles Deacon’s incredible dresses every day. His designs are a very rare mix of something structured, ethereal and futuristic, all at the same time. He’s also a fan of bright colour, which I love.

2.You recently made it on to Style.com’s ‘Top 10 Most Stylish’ list, which other celebs have caught your eye in 2008 style wise?
I love the way Kate Bosworth dresses, but my overall icons are all French: Lou Doillon, Ines de la Fressange and Brigitte Bardot.

3. Having interviewed many celebs on the red carpet, who would you say has the best style and why?
I think Keira Knightley always looks incredible and elegant, and Chloe Sevigny just goes for it - no stylist in sight - she mixes things together and always pulls it off.

4. If you could swap shoes with any other celebrity, who would it be and why?
Tamara Mellon - for her  endless collection of Jimmy Choos!

5. What is the most you have ever paid for a pair of shoes, what were they?
Shoes are the one thing I really will spend my money on. Clothes and jewellery I am happy to go to the high street for, but designer high heels stand out and I believe, are far more comfortable on your feet. I’m lucky enough to go to sample sales, so I often get a good price on my shoes - but even so, i think about £450 topped the bill!

6. Being a celeb stylist there must be the ultimate celeb you’d love to style, who would it be and?
Julia Roberts. She is so untouchably beautiful but never bothers with her clothes. I’d love to dress her!

7. Having hosted the ‘2008 Scottish Fashion Awards’ early this year, are there any up and coming fashion genius’s we should watch out for this year?
Peter Pilotto, Ohne Titel - two newbies who are already catching eyes in the industry. Sea - a small label in New York with a cult following of cool people!

8. Any tips for keeping feet healthy during big nights out?
I always put flats in my handbag, and Scholl’s party feet work a treat. If you forget both of the above, a few vodkas tend to help you forget the blisters!

Louise Roe will be presenting Clothes Show London which will take place at the ExCel Conference & Exhibition Centre, from 29-31 May 2009. Tickets are on sale, click here
